Cellular/mobile phones have advanced by leaps and bounds over the last 25 or so years. British designer Kyle Bean puts it all into perspective with his Russian doll-style depiction of the evolution of cell phones. His project, called Mobile Evolution, depicts mobile phones from 1985 to 2009. Each phone nests within the next, with the smallest being the most modern and the largest being the oldest.





The phones shown are, from oldest to newest: 1985 Motorola DynaTAC, 1988 Nokia Mobira Cityman 1320, 1991 AEG Teleport, 1993 Ericsson GH 198, 1996 Motorola Micro TAC 650, 1998 Siemens C10, 2001 Nokia 3210, 2005 Motorola Razr V3, and 2009 Samsung Tocco. Seeing them all together gives a great visual idea of how far the industry has come in such a relatively small amount of time.



The intricate recreations of mobile phones are made of paper and cardboard. According to the designer, he simply wanted to illustrate how quickly mobile phone technology has advanced and miniaturized since the first generation of wireless phones was widely available. The display enjoyed a public exhibition at 72 Rivington Street in London over the summer.

F1 car is made up of 80,000 components, if it were assembled 99.9% correctly, it would still start the race with 80 things wrong!
When an F1 driver hits the brakes on his car he experiences retardation or deceleration comparable to a regular car driving through a BRICK wall at 300kmph!!!



F1 car can go from 0 to 160 kph AND back to 0 in FOUR seconds!!!!!!!

F1 car engines last only for about 2 hours of racing mostly before blowing up on the other hand we expect our engines to last us for a decent 20yrs on an average and they quite faithfully DO....that's the extent to which the engines r pushed to perform...



An average F1 driver looses about 4kgs of weight after just one race due to the prolonged exposure to high G forces and temperatures for little over an hour (Yeah that's right!!!) At 550kg a F1 car is less than half the weight of a Mini.



To give you an idea of just how important aerodynamic design and added down force can be, small planes can take off at slower speeds than F1 cars travel on the track. Without aerodynamic down force, high-performance racing cars have sufficient power to produce wheel spin and loss of control at 160 kph. They usually race at over 300 kph.

In a street course race like the Monaco grand prix, the down force provides enough suction to lift manhole covers. Before the race all of the manhole covers on the streets have to be welded down to prevent this from happening!



The refuelers used in F1 can supply 12 liters of fuel per second. This means it would take just 4 seconds to fill the tank of an average 50 liter family car.

They use the same refueling rigs used on US military helicopters today. TOP F1 pit crews can refuel and change tyres in around 3 seconds. It took me 8 sec to read above point



During the race the tyres lose weight! Each tyre loses about 0.5 kg in weight due to wear.
Normal tyres last 60 000 - 100 000 km.

Racing tyres are designed to last 90 - 120 km.

A dry-weather F1 tyre reaches peak operating performance (best grip) when tread temperature is between 900C and 1200C.(Water boils boils at 100C remember) At top speed, F1 tyres rotate 50 times a second.

Amazing Ex-Soldier - He has tattooed 232 names on his body...

His bare back is still red raw from their freshly-inked names.

But former soldier Shaun Clark had promised to have the name of every troop killed in Afghanistan tattooed on his body in honour of their sacrifice.



And he wasn't going to back out.

Mr Clark, 43, spent more than four hours in the tattooist's chair today as each of the 232 names were etched in ink over his chest and back.(read more)

Thailand Tiger Temple - Rare and Amazing Photos...

There are 17 tigers at the temple. Seven were orphans rescued from the wild and ten have been breed and born here at the temple. (information as of December 2005)



Local people intercepted cubs, whose mothers were killed from poachers brought them to the temple. The Abbot took them in when no-one else would and cares for them as his sons and daughters.





Whole chicken, beef and dried cat food. The meat is cooked due to the Asian bird flu and so the tigers do not get the taste of blood and associate blood with food. The dried cat food replaces the nutrients lost from the meat during the cooking process.















The monks and Tiger Temple staff have very good control over the tigers and can read their behaviour extremely well. The tiger handlers get the occasional scratch while playing with the cubs but nothing serious has ever happen at the temple.







They have been hand-reared with compassion by the monks and have had interaction since they were young cubs. So they have imprinted on humans and have accepted us part of their lives. They are also use to people coming to the temple and having photos with as it is a daily routine.

World's First Eyeball Tattoo...SSSSssss.

A Toronto man has been the first to get an eyeball tattoo. Basically, he has turned the whites of his eyes blue.
Corneal tattooing is usually used for patients that have had trauma to their eye, not for this, which is called body modification.





It took 40 injections of blue ink in order to complete this procedure. Pigment was injected under the top layer of the eye using a syringe. The syringe injected the ink into the eye. At first they had tried a traditional needle with ink on it, but when the ink didn't hold, they switched to the syringe.

The man has reported that all is well so far, but it feels like he has something in his eye.





I can barely stand needles poking me anywhere, but in the eye? I can't even imagine. I wonder what would happen if you decided to change your mind after it was done?

Who here wants to get the world's next eyeball tattoo? Maybe a colorful rainbow would work nicely.

Darvaza: The Burning Gates

In 1971 a search for gas went wrong when a whole drilling rig fell into an underground cavern. Natural gas started coming up from the hole. It was set alight so it wouldn't kill everything around. For 35 years now the flames keep burning providing an spectacular seen for tourists. At night the burning gas makes the crater seen from miles away. The crater is located in Turkmenistan in the heart of the Karakum desert. The crater is called Darvaza or The Burning Gates.
